Can You Beat Goliath with $350?
The special election for the Texas Senate District 6 really drove home some strong points for us at RagingElephants.org. For quite some time, we have been saying that if the grassroots are not able to neutralize the financial pipeline of the Establishment and plutocrats that the dream of toppling their corrupt power would never come to fruition. The SD6 race gave us another harsh and painful lesson in this unavoidable truth.
As reported by the Texas Tribune, our candidate and the only true conservative in the race, R.W. Bray, raised a whopping $350 for the month of January. Meanwhile, the two socialist Democrats advancing to the runoff election spent a combined total of $615,000 with donations coming from Establishment Republicans. This is utterly shameful! Read the entire story here: http://www.texastribune.org/2013/01/25/senate-race-heads-toward-final-stretch/?utm_source=texastribune.org&utm_medium=alerts&utm_campaign=News%20Alert:%20Subscriptions
If not for the faithful supporters of RagingElephants.org that donated just under $3,000 toward our effort to assist Bray, he would have had essentially no weapons to fight with whatsoever.
Question: Is it realistic to expect a good, genuinely conservative candidate to be victorious operating at a $1,757 to $1 disadvantage? No, this is not David v. Goliath odds. This is flea v. Goliath odds.
Having fabulous rallies, informative meetings, and eblasting alerts certainly are critical components to a grassroots army. Nevertheless, let’s be perfectly clear. If the Tea Parties and grassroots continue to resist appropriating a percentage of their hard-earned money to the cause of overturning the status quo, we are all wasting our time. We all might as well roll over and accept the fact that we are going to continue to be ravaged by plundering tyrants. It’s that simple.
At RagingElephants.org we are constantly asking for the engaged, concerned and caring citizens of our nation and Texas to make a minimal sacrifice of $10 per month. Honestly, we do not think this is over the top.
Would you please just take a moment and think of what $10 dollars is equivalent to in today’s economy?
$ Two McDonald’s value meals?
$ A large pizza?
$ Two packs of cigarettes?
$ A single martini?
$ A ticket to the movies and maybe a tiny soft drink?
$ A man’s haircut?
$ A shoeshine?
$ A carwash?
$ A bucket of balls at the driving range?
And the list can go on and we’ll be compiling one that’s more extensive so that we all can ponder and meditate on precisely where we are as a movement, financially. A collective meditation is urgently needed by this bunch!
Question: How much will your bill be this weekend to watch a yearly football game? Which is more important? Let’s see… Superbowl, or liberty? Hmmm…
Note: If every single person reading this post were to sign up for a $10 per month donation, our power as an organization (and, that means your power) would explode exponentially and we would literally become the preeminent political force for the grassroots in the entire state of Texas. But until something approximating that commitment happens, we should give it up and bury ourselves in Fox News, Friends reruns, and March Madness.
